Volunteer Roles

Leadership Opportunities 

We recruiting a volunteer leadership team with a common goal of abolition, deinstitionalization, and disability justice for the Disabled People of Nebraska. Our team functions through the framework of disability justice, and uplifts the voices of those who are most system impacted. We highly encourage disabled people, people with lived experience within institions, and experience navigating systemic barriers to volunteer. 

We are recruiting volunteers with experience in community organizing, active within our local community, or would like to be more involved in disability justice. Volunteers will work as a team to ensure that we are providing accessible programing and events to our members. They may assist with reaching out to the community to recruit volunteers, find outreach opportunities, and provide stand-by support during events.

Peer Support

We are recruiting volunteers with experience navigating systematic barriers/institutions to offer peer support and supported advocacy to the disabled people of Nebraska.
Peer Support Volunteers will provide stand-by support during events through community inclusion and help participants find allies within the community.

Events

By volunteering for events you will be assisting with collaborating with our leadership team to set up for events, clean up after events, and assist with stand-by support for our participants.

Wellness Pantry

By volunteering for the wellness pantry you will be assisting in reaching out to potential donors, processing donations, and transporting items to our recepients if that is within your capacity. 

Transportation Support

By volunteering to provide transporation support you'll be connected to event attendees who don't have access to accomodative or timely transportation. We highly encourage you to volunteer if you have access to mobility vans/large vehicles, experience with transfers, and are able to committ your time to providing our community with transportation to events and back home.
